Discipline is the key to properly focus
In today's episode, Mattias talks about how he manages to focus on his daily tasks and explains why discipline is the key to proper focus.
Determining two main priorities per day
Mattias introduces the topic by explaining that he is naturally a focused person. Especially in a growing company where things change quickly, being focused is very important. However, because of the unpredictable nature of an operating position, there are always things that can come up unexpectedly during the day. In these situations, it's very helpful to determine the two biggest priorities for the day and stick to them.
Focus-time
Something else that helps him concentrate on his tasks is putting his phone into silent mode.
The moment we pick up our smartphones nowadays, we get carried away by the things that pop up on their display. Especially during the last two years, multiple global happenings made us want to check our phones constantly.
First, there was the pandemic; now, there's a war in Europe that we always want to stay updated on. It takes a lot of discipline to get into focus mode while your phone is turned on next to you. Music, on the other hand, helps Mattias to find his focus. Fun fact: he usually listens to The Notorious B.I.G. and Laleh.
Some other tips Svea and Mattias want to share are:
- Have a dedicated workplace
- Plan in small breaks
- Do less multitasking and more single-tasking
Discipline is key
Mattias wraps up this topic by saying that probably everyone theoretically understands what they should do to find proper focus. However, discipline is the key to succeed with it. Also, it is important to remember that you can't do all the things at once. Focus on the most important things first and take it day by day.
